Method

  • Shibori technique to create circles in fabric

  • Camera picks up "colour value changes" and tells code to display a circle where change are.

  • Observer stands in front of fabric & circles project their movment

  • Digital circles interact with Shibori circles then slowly fade/shine away

Maker's notes

  • Alway wanted to make it more transportable is Raspberry Pi instead of whole computer

  • Learned code basics which I found challenging but made idea generation faster with far less waste than my fabric samples

  • Projection gave immediate visuals for ideas with no physical waste. I still use this process to this day for visuals development.

Outcomes

  • People felt connected to my process/directly changed the desing through movement

  • Cam needs light but projector needs dark space

  • Code quickly goes out of date as computer updates

  • Participation is design
